Can I file at Tis Hazari if I live in South Delhi?
For HMA Section 8 (after religious ceremony), yes — registration can be done where the marriage was solemnised. For SMA, at least one partner must reside in the SDM's jurisdiction for 30 days. If you live in South Delhi, Saket Court may be closer.
How long does Tis Hazari registration take?
HMA Section 8 (with religious ceremony): 1–7 working days. Special Marriage Act: 30-day notice + ~5 days = approximately 35 days. Same-day (Tatkal) is reliably possible for HMA route at Tis Hazari with complete documents.
What if my witnesses don't have Aadhaar?
The SDM accepts Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License as identity proof for witnesses. PAN alone is not sufficient. Aadhaar is most preferred and fastest.
Is the SDM Tis Hazari open on Saturdays?
The SDM marriage section is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted holidays. On Saturdays we conduct the Mandir wedding; SDM filing happens the next working day (Monday).
