What Documents Do Witnesses Need?
- Aadhaar Card — original + 1 photocopy (preferred)
- OR Voter ID / Passport / Driving Licence if no Aadhaar
- 2 passport-size photographs (white background)
- Self-attested photocopy of ID
What Does a Witness Actually Do?

Witness backed out at the last minute — what do I do?

Do witnesses need to be present at the religious ceremony or just SDM?
Legally, they need to be at SDM. But for HMA marriages, having them at the Mandir wedding too strengthens your case. We recommend they attend both.
Can a witness be from a foreign country?
Yes — if they have a valid passport and are physically present at SDM Tis Hazari, they can be a witness. (We've had US, UK, Canada witnesses at Tis Hazari.)
